Accounting Specialist / Bookkeeper
Brothers Supply Corporation
Salary Range: $90,000–$125,000 annually, depending on experience
About the Position
Brothers Supply Corporation is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Accounting Specialist / Bookkeeper to manage and oversee the company’s day-to-day accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting knowledge, be highly proficient in QuickBooks, and possess the organizational skills necessary to maintain accurate financial records and support the company’s ongoing financial management.
This role is well suited for a dependable, hands-on accounting professional who can work independently, manage competing priorities, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial information.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily accounting and bookkeeping activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial records.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, bank accounts, credit cards, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Oversee accounts payable, including processing vendor invoices, verifying expenses, managing payment schedules, and maintaining vendor records.
- Manage accounts receivable, including customer invoicing, payment applications, collections follow-up, and account reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow summaries.
- Assist with monthly and year-end closing procedures.
- Monitor outstanding customer balances and vendor payments to support effective cash flow management.
- Maintain accurate financial documentation and organized accounting records.
- Assist with budgeting, expense tracking, financial analysis, and reporting as needed.
- Coordinate with outside accountants and tax professionals on tax filings, year-end reporting, and other accounting matters.
- Support payroll processing and related reporting, as needed.
- Ensure compliance with established accounting procedures and internal controls.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and overall efficiency.
- Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting experience; additional experience preferred.
- Strong proficiency in QuickBooks is required.
- Solid understanding of general accounting principles, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and account reconciliation.
- Experience preparing financial statements and management reports.
- Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other standard office applications.
- Experience with inventory accounting, vendor management, or distribution and supply businesses is a plus.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
What We’re Looking For We are looking for a trustworthy, proactive accounting professional who takes ownership of their work and understands the importance of accurate financial reporting. The successful candidate will be comfortable handling routine accounting functions while also recognizing discrepancies, resolving issues, and helping management maintain a clear picture of the company’s financial position.
Compensation
Annual salary: $90,000–$125,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
Interested candidates should submit their résumé outlining their accounting experience, QuickBooks proficiency, and relevant qualifications.
My recommendation: Keep Accounting Specialist / Bookkeeper as the Indeed title initially. The salary range is substantial enough that you should emphasize independent responsibility, financial reporting, reconciliations, and strong QuickBooks skills—not just data entry.
One additional consideration: If this person will be responsible for the company’s accounting from beginning to end, including closing the books and producing financial reports for management, Senior Accounting Specialist may be an even stronger title. It communicates the level of experience you’re seeking without necessarily implying that you need a CPA.
I can also help you refine this into a more targeted Indeed posting that emphasizes the specific accounting needs of a supply and distribution business.
