Audit Manager
Nonprofit and/or For Profit
Public accounting experience essential
Enjoy leading audits and developing people, but want more choice over where your career goes next?
At this firm, you can work towards Partnership, build your technical expertise or focus on developing the team. There’s room to have ambition without everyone needing the same end goal.
This independent firm has grown steadily and won Best Place to Work multiple times. Flexibility, support and a career you can sustain are part of what they offer.
A portfolio that plays to your strengths
- You’ll manage complex audits from planning through completion, lead client relationships and support Seniors and Associates as they develop.
- The client base includes both nonprofit and for profit organisations. If you have a particular interest in one, there’s room to specialise. If you enjoy a broader mix, you can keep that variety.
- You don’t need to arrive with your whole career mapped out. There’s flexibility to let your strengths and interests shape your path.
Clear expectations around hours
- Busy season typically runs 54 to 60 hours a week. Outside of that, the expectation is a maximum of 40 hours, with time built in for training, mentoring and development.
- That gives you space to invest in your own progression and the people you manage.
More than one way to progress
- Partnership is a genuine option. One current Partner started here as an intern, so there’s a real example of that path.
- There are also leadership opportunities in people development, technical work and business development. You can build a long term career around the work you enjoy and the contribution you want to make.
What you’ll bring
- You’ll be a CPA, or close to qualifying, with public accounting experience managing audit engagements and leading teams.
- Experience in nonprofit, for profit or a combination of both is welcome.
The package
- 100% employer paid healthcare for individual coverage
- A minimum of four weeks PTO
- Profit sharing for all employees
Not ready with a resume? Or want a bit more information before applying? No problem. You can still apply the old-fashioned way, or just reach out to start a conversation with Imogen via LinkedIn or the Distinct Recruitment website or contact her cell at 312-584-9844. She’ll be happy to tell you more about the firm, the job and the prospects before you commit further.
Think you only have 87% of the required experience? Perfect - apply anyway. The CPA firms we partner with want diverse, interesting people, not corporate clones stamped from the same tedious mould.
Don’t overthink it. The worst outcome is a pleasant conversation about your career. The best? Well, that's where it gets rather exciting.
