Position Summary

Belmont Medical Technologies develops and manufactures fluid and temperature management products used in critical care, surgery, emergency, and trauma settings. The Staff Accountant helps maintain the accuracy and timeliness of Belmont’s accounting records and supports the close and reporting processes that leaders rely on to manage the business.

This is a hands-on general ledger role focused initially on defined, recurring close activities, journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. The Staff Accountant researches differences, maintains clear documentation, and follows assigned items through resolution. As the employee develops proficiency, the role may take on additional accounting responsibilities.

Belmont is looking for someone specifically eager to learn and grow, with the opportunity to build skills towards a Senior Accountant role. Success requires sound accounting fundamentals, accuracy, and dependable follow-through. The Staff Accountant completes assigned work against close deadlines, keeps the Accounting team informed of progress or risks, and raises questions when an item falls outside established procedures.

Regular Job Duties

General Ledger and Close

  • Complete assigned activities in Belmont’s monthly close checklist, preparing and recording recurring journal entries and maintaining related support in accordance with established procedures and close deadlines.
  • Prepare and record assigned general ledger entries for cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, goodwill, intangible assets, lease accounting under ASC 842, debt, intercompany activity, and P&L reclasses.
  • Prepare reconciliations and supporting schedules for assigned general ledger accounts, which may include cash and bank accounts, prepaids, fixed assets, goodwill and intangibles, lease accounts, debt, and intercompany balances.
  • Research reconciling items and unusual balances, compare recorded activity with supporting schedules, document conclusions, and bring unresolved differences or questions to the Accounting team.
  • Maintain organized workpapers and account support so journal entries and reconciliations can be reviewed and completed within the close calendar.

Accounting Records and Team Coordination

  • Follow established accounting procedures, account coding, approval requirements, internal controls, and record-retention practices; seek guidance when support or account treatment is unclear.
  • Coordinate with Accounting colleagues and other business partners to obtain routine information needed to complete assigned entries and reconciliations.
  • Manage assigned recurring tasks against deadlines, communicate status or timing risks, and follow open items through resolution.
  • As proficiency grows and business needs evolve, take on additional accounting tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Other duties as assigned, based on evolving business needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and professional accounting experience.
  • Professional accounting experience that includes preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and the purpose of general ledger, close, and reconciliation controls.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience using an ERP or general ledger system to review and organize financial information.
  • Ability to manage recurring deadlines, maintain accurate and well-supported work, and follow assigned responsibilities through completion.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to document accounting work and promptly raise unresolved issues or deadlines at risk.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting a monthly close in a manufacturing, medical technology, or other multi-department organization.
  • Experience with NetSuite or a comparable ERP system.
  • Exposure to fixed asset, lease, debt, or intercompany accounting and related balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Experience supporting a general ledger close and maintaining clear account reconciliations or supporting schedules.
